Product description

CP-1 is a rheology modifier and high-performance gelling agent based on organophilic bentonite, designed for use in oil-based (mineral oil) and synthetic-based drilling fluids.

The product increases the carrying capacity and suspension properties of invert-emulsion fluids, allowing weighting agents and cuttings to be reliably held in suspension and thereby improving cleaning of the wellbore and near-wellbore zone. Owing to its ability to form a strong gel with high low-shear-rate viscosity, CP-1 improves cuttings transport efficiency, promotes the formation of a high-quality filter cake and reduces drilling fluid filtration into the productive formation

Application and Dosage Recommendations

CP-1 is effective at loadings of 4 to 25 kg/m³, depending on the required rheology, carrying capacity and filtration parameters of the drilling fluid
The product is added evenly through the hopper into the circulating drilling fluid at a rate of 10–15 minutes per bag to ensure complete dispersion and activation of the organophilic bentonite
When designing the system, the dosage should be selected based on laboratory tests with the actual base oil, weighting agents and additives, monitoring low-shear-rate viscosity, gel strength and filtration parameters

Packaging and Storage Conditions

CP-1 is supplied in 25 kg multi-layer moisture-proof bags on pallets. Store in a dry room away from sources of moisture. After opening, the bag must be closed tightly to prevent moisture pick-up and product deterioration

Safety Requirements

Personal protective equipment (protective gloves, safety glasses and, if necessary, a respirator) must be used when handling CP-1. Detailed instructions on safe handling, storage and disposal are given in the product Safety Data Sheet
