NRG-HS Hydrocarbon-Based Gelling Agent

Manufactured by Oil Energy, Russia
NRG-HS Hydrocarbon-Based Gelling Agent

Product description

NRG-HS is a high-performance gelling agent for water-based systems. NRG-HS is based on a high-molecular-weight, salt-tolerant polymer suitable for viscosifying both fresh-water systems and brines.
NRG-HS is used in oil and gas well construction as an efficient gelling agent for completion, workover and enhanced oil recovery fluids, as well as for viscosifying spacers, bridging (plugging) pills and cleanout pills during wellbore circulation and cleanouts

Physical Properties and Chemical Composition

Suspension of a high-quality polysaccharide in a synthetic base

Benefits

High-performance salt-tolerant gelling agent for drilling and well service fluids
  • -1-
Highly efficient as a gelling agent
  • -2-
Helps reduce the fluid loss of the system
  • -3-
Easily broken polymer; does not impair reservoir properties
  • -4-
Disperses rapidly without lumps or "fish eyes"
  • -5-
Tolerant to salts and performs effectively in brines
  • -6-
Rapidly increases the viscosity and carrying capacity of the system

Application and Dosage Recommendations

  • Recommended loadings of NRG-HS gelling agent are 5 to 20 kg/m³, depending on the type of fluid being treated and the required viscosity
  • Application temperature range: up to 100 °C
  • NRG-HS should be fed into the mixing hopper evenly, at a consistently low feed rate, to prevent local over-concentration and to ensure optimum distribution of the additive throughout the system

Packaging and Storage Conditions

NRG-HS is packed in plastic canisters/pails of up to 50 kg or 1 m³ IBC containers. Store in dry, warm rooms away from moisture and heat sources, avoiding direct sunlight and freezing

Q&A from Oil Energy Experts

NRG-HS is a rheology modifier and gelling agent based on a salt-tolerant, high-molecular-weight polysaccharide in a synthetic base. By application, the product belongs to the class of liquid gelling systems based on hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC), which are used to increase viscosity and carrying capacity and to control fluid loss in drilling and well service fluids
