FLOSS 600 Synthetic Fluid Loss and Gas Migration Control Additive

Manufactured by Oil Energy, Russia
ФЛОСС 600 (FLOSS 600) понизитель фильтрации и газоблокатор для цементирования скважин

Product description

Patent RU2763586C1
FLOSS 600 is a fluid loss control additive and gas migration control agent for cement slurries. It effectively reduces fluid loss and helps prevent interzonal fluid migration after the cement slurry has been placed in the well.

The product is used for cementing casing strings across productive formations to help preserve the original reservoir properties of the formation. FLOSS 600 is also used in gas and oil wells with a high gas-oil ratio, where reliable fluid-loss control and gas migration control are required.

Physical Properties and Chemical Composition

FLOSS 600 is a synthetic copolymer based on organic acids and acrylamide derivatives, including AMPS polymer.

Benefits

  • -1-
Effectively reduces the fluid-loss value of cement slurries
  • -2-
Helps prevent and block the migration of interzonal fluids through the cement system
  • -3-
Does not have a significant effect on the onset time of cement strength development at low temperatures
  • -4-
Helps increase the sedimentation stability of cement slurry
  • -5-
Retains its effectiveness in the presence of high concentrations of sodium chloride and calcium chloride
  • -6-
Compatible with all types of plasticizers and retarders without loss of effectiveness, as well as with API Class G cement

Application and Dosage Recommendations

  • The product is effective across a broad temperature range from 0 to 200 °C
  • Recommended dosage: 0.2–1.0% BWOC (by weight of cement), depending on the required fluid-loss and rheological performance
  • The additive can be introduced into the dry cement blend or added to the mix water

Technical Data

FLOSS 600 provides excellent fluid-loss control while maintaining cementing system stability in well cementing operations, where even minor loss of the liquid phase can lead to cement sheath porosity, interzonal fluid migration, and reduced cementing quality.

Packaging and Storage Conditions

FLOSS 600 is supplied in 25 kg bags. A standard pallet contains 40 bags.
Store the product in closed, undamaged packaging in covered and dry warehouse facilities. Keep away from heating equipment, direct sources of moisture, and conditions that may compromise the packaging or product quality.

Q&A from Oil Energy Experts

Yes. FLOSS 600 is a synthetic polymer fluid loss control additive for cement slurries that also performs as a gas-blocking agent. At recommended dosages from 0.5% BWOC (by weight of cement), it helps reduce the risk of gas and interzonal fluid migration through the cement system during the transition period.

By controlling fluid loss and supporting slurry stability, FLOSS 600 helps maintain cement sheath integrity and reduce the potential for behind-casing flow. Laboratory testing with the OFITE 120-57 Gas Migration Analyzer and field application experience confirm the product’s gas-blocking properties when it is used as part of a properly designed cement slurry system.
